Arkansas Car Insurance
Driving Without Arkansas car insurance? It Couldn't be That Bad Could it?
Arkansas State Flag
"Sure," you say, "I know the state has set strict rules regulating who, where and when I must have insurance on my car, but hey.... What's the worse that could happen if I just go a month or so - here and there without it?" You may not openly admit it in mixed company, but you have thought it on more than one occasion; you think about that other bill that you could be paying instead, you think about that weekend getaway that you've been dying to take, or you think about how you simply just hate shelling out money for something that is "just in case."
No matter how you feel about having to pay for insurance - whether it be because you don't like the rates, the company or the state's laws on insurance; you definitely don't want to be without Arkansas car insurance when the time comes that you really need it.
Here's a quick case and point - Let's say, you were just cruising down the road one day, and you didn't happen to see those few pieces of industrial scrap metal that are now lying in the middle of the highway because the junkman's truck was piled just a little bit too high when he hit that bump down the way. He's merrily on his way to collect a few bucks a pound for the remainder of his load, but meanwhile, unbeknownst to you, you're on your way to certain blow-out of at least one of you tires.
Of course, you realize that the dangerous junk is in the road just a millisecond too late, and..... Bang! Out go two of your tires on the same side of your car! You try to maintain control of the vehicle as it spins out of control and into the barricades on the side of the road, but not before side swiping another car or Two. The first thing that would normally go through someone's mind in a situation like this is "is everyone okay?" Unfortunately, for you - you don't have Arkansas car insurance - as mandated by law - so your first thought is "holy crap! I'm about to go to jail!" You know that in the state of Arkansas, you are required to carry liability coverage that provides a minimum of $25,000 per person for bodily injury, but you don't have that. You also know that the state requires a minimum of $25,000 in coverage for property damage, but.... Well you know.
So here you are sitting in your vehicle - precariously perched on the side of the road - wishing you had not let that insurance go "for just a couple of months." Your brain begins to slowly tally up all of the damages that you can see (without even taking a good look around), and you realize that you are not going to get out of this one cheap. Right about now, you are wishing that you could just pay the Arkansas car insurance premium that you were quoted so that you could breath a little bit easier, but unfortunately for you - you were trying to save a few bucks... but instead, you're looking at the possibility of financial ruin.
And you'd better be praying that no one is seriously injured, because the costs - both financial and legal could really skyrocket at that point. Suddenly, you begin to figure out that "just in case" - paying for Arkansas car insurance is a whole lot better than not having it, and needing it oh so desperately. The lesson is a very easy one to learn... because, as we said; this was a theoretical scenario - which hasn't "yet" happened. But keep in mind that it very well could.
Think of it as having a conversation with your self... only the "you" that speaking is the "you" from the future, who's experienced the pain and agony of the scenario that just played out in this example, and you are talking to the "you" that is sitting at your kitchen table, figuring out your bills and considering the option of letting that insurance go "for just a second." If you'd experienced the financial and emotional hardship that an accident would create under uninsured circumstances, you would find yourself pleading with yourself to not do anything crazy that is going to cost you a whole lot more than just another insurance payment - it could cost you everything you have worked so hard for.
So don't think of Arkansas car insurance laws as just being there to make your life more difficult... think of the state minimum coverages as being a welcome friend in a desperate time of need, and think of those lawmakers who had the genius to create these laws as friend who had the insight to look out for you years before you ever actually needed them. They were working hard to develop a list of requirements so that if and when the scenario above ever plays out in your life - you'll be taken care of.
Now, put yourself back in that car - the smell of burnt rubber is still fresh in the air, steam is wafting from underneath your hood - because your radiator is quite busted, and a couple of other cars are now limping towards the emergency lane - casualties of war. You're still sitting in the driver seat - with a death-grip on your steering wheel, but now you are not so focused on the costs of the accident - you're thinking more about making sure everyone is alright, and you breath a bit more freely, knowing that you can focus on being human - not on being an accountant - figuring out what not having Arkansas car insurance is going to cost you.
